Given the difficulty that most of us have with self-deprication, it's overwhelming to consider the spiritual strength it takes to stand up on the stage and make fun of one's physical challenges, which in this case include blindness, deafness, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson's disease, Spina Bifida, spinal cord injuries, Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injury, and others.

Yet, here they are, joking about dropping a glass eye, carrying an extra set of legs, or misplacing one's meds.

Director/head writer Edith Weiss and assistant director/writer Jeremy Palmer and their disarming ensemble hit home on a number current topics as well as some specific to this group. You heard about the guy that got arrested so he could go to jail and get medical coverage? What would Mother Goose do if she had to write her stories using politically correct language? My favorite was the one about the airline pilot who greeted passengers while holding a blind passenger's seeing-eye dog by a leash.

Whatever worries or cares you've talked yourself into, you'll be sure to see them in a different light after this.

The Phamaly's production of Vox Phamalia: Quadrapalooza runs November 6th at the Avenue Theater (303-893-4100) and at Wit's End (303-430-4242), November 7th and 8th.
