John Lithgow's one-man show, Stories By Heart, One Night Only in Boulder
Following performances at Lincoln Center in New York and the National Theatre in London, Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award-winning actor, John Lithgow brings his one-man show, Stories by Heart, to historic Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder for a special, one-night-only performance to christen LOCAL, the city's newest professional theatre company.
 | John Lithgow | Lithgow's multifaceted talents will be framed by recollections of his familial storytelling history and illustrated in the performance of two stories that were read to him and his siblings when they were children: "Uncle Fred Flits By" by P.G. Wodehouse and "Haircut" by Ring Lardner. Expect a touching and humorous reflection on storytelling as the tie that binds us to each other, as we believe it has since the earliest campfires.
The performance marks the return of the dramatic arts to the Chautauqua main stage, after a many decades long absence. According to LOCAL's artistic director, Pesha Rudnick, the company will follow up with the LOCAL LAB New Play Festival, including staged readings of three new works, one of which will be selected for a local world premiere and, potentially, an eventual run in New York.
LOCAL Theatre Company's presentation of John Lithgow's Stories By Heart takes place on Sunday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $41.50 to $81.50 ($38.50 - 78.50 for members). There will be a "meet and greet" post-performance reception at 9:30 PM in the Chautauqua Community House. Tickets: $75 (does not include show ticket). 303.440.7666, www.chautauqua.com, or at the Chautauqua Box Office (10 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Saturday throughout the summer season).
